Established in June, 1965 and affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur (MS), Dahiwadi College Dahiwadi is run by its parent institute i.e. Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara, the premier education institute imparting education in 14 districts of Maharashtra and Karnataka states. The college has turned to be an ideal education center. Since its establishment, the college emerged out of natural calamities such as perennial drought, scarcity of water and always learnt to share the problems of the region. In a span of 50 years the college has shown a remarkable growth in qualitative and quantitative academic affairs. The college has seen unprecedented recognition in last 10 years. The college was firstly accredited in 2004 with C++ grade, then in 2011 with B grade (CGPA 2.79) & in 2017 with A grade (CGPA 3.25) by NAAC. Unique feature of the college has been to fulfill the different needs of students hailing from rural and economically backward strata of society. Some of them are even the first-generation learners. Concerted efforts are made to provide excellent education to such students so as to bring about remarkable change in their academic performance at the end of the program. At present, the college provides education in five different streams such as Arts, Commerce, Science, BCA & B Voc in Agriculture. There are many programme options available to the students along with PG in Chemistry, PG Diploma in Green Chemistry and Crop Protection, M. Phil and Ph. D in Botany and Chemistry. Besides, the college offers 07 Career Oriented Courses, 30 short term courses and 16 skill courses.

The college takes pride in its qualified and active faculty involved in research. Almost all the faculty members have either completed the Minor/Major Research Projects or are engaged in such projects. The college has received research funds in a tune of 1 crore in last 5 years. The faculty members have published around 125 research papers in national and international indexed journals of repute and presented more than 241 research papers in national and international seminars, conferences. The college hosted Aavishkar research project competition sponsored by Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The college has a substantial number of students passing competitive examinations. The students of the college got placements in government sectors at large scale. Besides academics, our students have won prizes in research, sports, cultural and extension activities. The college has made remarkable changes in the infrastructural facilities in the last five years. The college has 24 well equipped science laboratories and 07 computer labs with latest configuration. Two of science labs i.e. Laboratory of Botany and Chemistry are M. Phil and Ph.D. recognized laboratories by Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The college has well specious and well-stacked library. Developments in the library include addition to titles and journals, acquisition of software like LIBRERIA, N-List programme of INFLIBNET and reprographic facility and full computerization.
The college implements various welfare schemes for the students. The college has Earn and Learn Scheme which provides financial assistance at the cost of merge labour. The college has a placement cell which looks after placements organizing placement camps of the reputed business organizations. The college also has a counseling center for students. A special forum for girl students is established to look after the problems and cater to the needs of the girl students. The college takes painstaking efforts to contribute to its students academic and personal growth. Recently, the college has introduced 11 new courses/programmes. The college also organizes various conferences, seminars and workshops for students, staff and also for various sectors of the society. Indian education scenario has been undergoing radical changes with lot of emphasis on skill development among the students. The college has shared a reputation for its openness to change and progressive attitude. NAAC assessment at fourth cycle will help to ignite Rayat Shikshan Sansthas Dahiwadi College Dahiwadi to impart quality skill based education to economically and socially disadvantaged students and meet the needs of all its stakeholders to their utmost satisfaction. -
