Chemistry
Department of Chemistry was established in 1985. Departments runs various under graduate courses like B.Sc.I, II, III and M.Sc. Organic Chemistry (From 2011-12) and M.Sc. Analytical Chemistry( From 2021-22) Intake capacity of PG course is 66. Department also run M.Sc.in Chemistry of Yashawantrao Chavan Open University (YCMOU from 2021-22) for students from industries and profession. In this department 14 faculties are engaged actively in academic and research work. Department actively runs M.Phil and Ph.D. research centre recognized by Shivaji University Kolhapur. Prin. Dr. Salunkhe S.T. and Prof.(Dr.) Khetre S.M. are recognized research guides of Shivaji University Kolhapur. Two students awarded Ph.D. degree , Three students has submitted their Ph.D. thesis &. Four Ph.D. students are working. In 2021-22 faculty members and students published 10 research papers in National and International journal of repute. departmental faculty published three patents. Department runs COC, STC, Skill courses.
This department is well equipped with specious laboratories. C.F.centre is available for science stream. There is departmental library with rich collection of e- books .This department is well equipped with advanced instruments like FTIR, AAS, flame photometer, digital polarometer,double beam UV spectro photometer, water and soil analysis kit.
Department organizes various students-oriented activities like seminar, workshops, webinar, field visit, projects, poster presentation, blended learning activity for overall development of students. Department conducts CIE like home assignments, tests, internal examination, mid-term examinations ,Chem quiz, Viva etc for academic progression of students.
Department also has Gov. of Maharashtra recognized soil and water analysis laboratory. Through this laboratory various water and soil samples from nearby area are collected , analyzed accordingly and suggestions are made with respect to water and soil quality.
Under Soil health Mission ,a programme of government of India, department have analysed 625 soil samples and prepared Soil Health Card (SHC) and submitted to respective agricultural department. 1435 soil samples were analysed under Food Security Mission (FSM) of Government of India.
